HydroWorld-Hydroponic Farming and Growing Hydroponic Growing

Vermiculite is a natural mined mineral and is non-organic. When heated rapidly it goes through a process called exfoliation, which expands the pellets into the medium we use in hydroponic systems. Since it is a type of clay it retains water well but has poor drainage. This is why they tend to mix Vermiculite with Perlite, as the 2 complement each other perfectly. Mixing the two in a 50/50 ratio, the grower can utilize the excellent water retention of the Vermiculite along with the excellent air-ration and filtration of Perlite.
